Photoshop is a huge and complex programme that has a steep learning curve. However the one big issue I had when I started using it was the ridiculuous undo keyboard shortcut. To Undo one step is Ctrl+Z – fine – but to Undo more than that is Ctrl+Alt+Z. Really??
And, yes, I am sure there is some logic to it from 9 editions ago, but seriously, for users starting into Photoshop, it makes no sense.
Luckily Adobe allows you to fix their enormous error quiet easily – thanks Adobe.
Click on the Edit dropdown menu and select Keyboard Shortcuts.
Under the Edit flyout menu, find Step Backward and Step Forward, and then change their shortcuts to Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y, like every other programme you have ever used.
But why stop there..?
In my opinion, and in my experience, the undo command is the one most used in most programmes, and especially Photoshop. So, let’s assign a single keystroke for ease of use!!
I have used F3 and F4 for Step Backward and Step Forward, and it works a treat – try it today – it will change your life.
